SELFIE The three selfie experiments of this task involved a reflected selfie, obscured selfie and a shadow selfie. The reflected selfie used a range of sufaces including a car mirror, metal plate and car lights. The obscured selfie used a blue bike gate to cover half of my face. The shadow selfie i used direct sunlight to cast my shadow against a zebra crossing...
How many Selfies do you take a week? What do you do with them? If you don't take Selfies, why not?
Personally selfies I take are not serious or taken to share on social media. The selfies I take are sent to friends in conversation via snapchat and other forms of social media. I feel that the typical selfie trend has become less popular to some people as the pressure of standards of social media are too high and the negative side of social media is more apparent to people.
What, do you think, is the reason why taking Selfies has become so popular? Is there a downside to the taking and sharing of Selfies?
i feel selfies have become popular as it became a norm throughout socail media to share photos of yourself. It also became an easy way of sharing where you had been with people as many people uploaded photographs of them in various locations such as: exotic holidays, tourist locations and out with friends. The major downside to selfies is the negative opinions, and cyber hate people can suffer from. Peoples self esteem can also be damaged due to the explosions of selfies online as they feel there is a beauty standard they must live up to.
THE REVERSED SELFIE
For the reversed selfie idea I changed the focus of the task, instead of 'me' being the subject I used other people. I preferred taking the photos rather than taking selfies because I felt better photos were taken where I could have more control of of what I was photographing as there was more space and angles to use.
My attempt: reversed shadow selfie
For the first task I created shadow by using a studio light and light gel, I photographed a persons face along with their shadow instead of a solid shadow, this fitted in more with the selfie theme as the face was the main focus of the photograph rather than the shadow.
My attempt: reversed obstructed selfie
For the obstructed images I used metal bars the cover parts of the face, i focused on the facial features but also focused on the bars for some photographs.
My attempt: reversed reflection selfie
For the first task I created shadow by using a studio light and light gel, I photographed a persons face along with their shadow instead of a solid shadow, this fitted in more with the selfie theme as the face was the main focus of the photograph rather than the shadow.
